This article covers how to create a new customer on the Customers page.
(NOTE: that the Customers page is not the only place where a new customer can be added. For example, a new customer can be created while creating a new Estimate , creating a new Job, or creating a new Invoice. Or you can use the Add New button at the top right of any Field Service CRM page.)
If a new customer requests you to complete work for him/her, you will first need to create a record for this customer. To do this, login to the web version of Field Service CRM, click on the top right cornerĀ Universal Blue Add New Button, and select New Customer.
Contact Details
The first section of the Add New Customer window is Contact Details. Start by filling in all available contact information for this customer, including name, company name, phone numbers, and emails.
The Tags field at the bottom of the window can be used to add descriptors or characteristics to describe the customer. If there are existing tags, start by typing part of the tag name, then choose the tag when it appears. Or you can create a tag from scratch just by typing it and pressing Enter.
To proceed to the next step, click Create Customer at the bottom of this pop-up window.
Location Details
The window now becomes the Edit Customer window, open to the Location Details page. First, select the type of address from the drop-down menu at the top. This can be a billing or service address, or custom address. A custom address can be used to differentiate several locations by name, such as “Lincoln Ave property” or “North End location.”
Enter the street address, and once Google Maps has enough information to identify the address, the location will appear on the map. Be sure to click Save Address when finished.
Once an address is saved, it will appear at the top of the Edit Customer window. If the customer has more than one location, or a billing address that differs from the service address, click Add New Address at the bottom.
For all subsequent addresses, use the same steps: choose the type of address, fill in the address details, and save. All addresses will be listed at the top of the Edit Customer window, where you can edit or delete the address.
